Laying Hen Heat and Moisture Production under Commercial
نویسنده
چکیده
Astudy was carried out with the objective of establishing heat and moisture loads in three commercial egg laying units in Alberta under winter conditions. The units studied were typical of triple-deck, deep-pit, and shallow-gutter, caged systems. Each unit was monitored for six 24-h periods over 4 mo. Adata acquisition system was used tocollect the data necessary to carry outa complete heat and moisture balance oneach unit. The total heat production rates of theWhite Leghorn layers ranged from 33.2 to 34.6 kJ/(h.bird) during the light period and from 24.9 to 31.0 kJ/(h.bird) during the dark period, the daily means ranging from 29.5 to 33.2 kJ/(h.bird) for the three barns. Moisture production rates ranged from 3.3 to 3.9 g/(g.bird) and from 2.6 to 2.7 g/(h.bird) during the light and dark periods, respectively, the daily means ranging from 3.1 to 3.3 g/(h.bird) for the three barns.

Effects of Stocking Density and Group Size on Heat and Moisture Production of Laying Hens under Thermoneutral and Heat-Challenging Conditions
Current and relevant heat and moisture production data for laying hens are necessary for sizing and operating ventilation systems for commercial layer housing. Different stocking densities are being adopted in cage layer facilities, but there is a lack of information concerning the potential impacts of these changes on environmental control. A study was conducted with 24 groups of 48 hens (39 t...

The effect of yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) supplementation on laying hen diets was tested against flavomycin supplementation during 12 weeks, using 112 Brown Bovans laying hens, 52 week-old, divided into 7 equal groups fed on a basal diet containing 18.8% crude protein and 2810 kcal/kg ME (metabolizable energy) feed. Three groups were supplemented with 3 different levels of commerci...

The present research was designed to examine the genetic analysis of egg weight, egg yolk weight and egg albumen weight of Bovan Neva Black laying hens at 25, 51 and 72 weeks. For this purpose, thirty birds were selected from the layer flock in the Babcock University Teaching and Research Farm. They were individually housed in separate labeled battery cage. A total of thirty eggs were collected...
متن کاملThe Use of Housing System in the Management of Heat Stress in Poultry Production in Hot and Humid Climate: a Review
There is a gap between the population growth and protein supply in many tropical countries where per capita income is low and the majority of people consume less protein than a daily standard for recommended protein intake. Poultry egg production remains the fastest route to bridging the protein demand-supply gap in these regions. However, poultry are faced with heat stress in the tropics which...

The effects of dietary supplemental vitamin E (VE) and chromium (Cr) on egg production (EP), egg quality, serum concentrations of Cr and insulin and activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were evaluated in Lohmann LSL-Lite laying hens reared under thermoneutral or heat stress (HS) conditions. A total of 144 laying hens were distributed in 24 cages and assigned to feed four diets including ...
